Safely, effectively, and harmoniously.
It's about the right, complete education and mindset.

It's about self-awareness and consistent effort to mutually understand and support each other.

Besides physical and technical training, it's also about mental and emotional ability. The balance, which, as well as other skills, can and should be trained and practiced daily, to achieve better performance and harmony.
Just like a regular move.
Just like consumption or self-care.

It's like a partnership on a deeper level. Interconnectedness between your body, mind, and soul and your horse’s spirit. You work together. If out of alignment, then you struggle to understand each other. If aligned, then you can get everywhere you want.

With understanding, communication, mutual trust, dedication, and acceptance, you can do so much more. There are no shortcuts.

Meet The Person behind The “Equine Symbiosis” Project:

Wera, your holistic guide to more balanced, conscious, and successful equine work -competition, recreational, and well-being for you and your horses.

Wera (Weronika Kontykiewicz-Biel) is a Well-being Coach, Holistic Healing Practitioner, and Hayashi Reiki Master Level IV Professional. Based on her equine sports achievements from 2000 to 2010, she has been granted a lifetime Level II licence in jumping. Since then, she has continued to educate herself in human, equine, canine, and feline welfare practices, as well as a holistic approach to body, mind, and soul, through multiple training courses on Mindfulness, Emotional Healing, and Stress-Reduction techniques.

She has been connected to the equine world for over 26 years and has participated in activities around horses throughout their entire life cycle. She was a horse caretaker for 22 years (1999-2021) and witnessed her horse's, Landro, life cycle from when he was 5 until 27 years old, with 2 more resident horses in training. From that moment, Weronika realized that to achieve a more effective training and peaceful lifestyle, besides physical preparation, real-life mindset changes are necessary in how the body, mind, and heart work, being interconnected with each other. And this statement is valid both for experienced riders and those who begin their journey with horses.

Currently, she focuses on designing mindful-healthy work environments and well-being routines for IT professionals, leading “Equine Symbiosis” - a welfare and mindfulness project for international riders in the equine industry, and facilitating human emotional healing journeys, especially through the means of nature, including equine natural healing abilities. Wera continues to deepen her mindfulness, relaxation, and stress-management knowledge and ways to educate in various multicultural environments.

Landro’s life and mutual understanding beyond words remain Wera’s daily inspiration to introduce more conscious mental and emotional practical skills in life, work, and training, through which more and more people in the equine world and beyond. Thanks to this change of habit and improved personal well-being, we all ensure better consideration between humans and animals, a reciprocal respect, and a high standard of animal welfare.

The Story Behind The “Equine Symbiosis Educational Program” - How It All Started

After a few years of competing and showing potential on the national level in jumping, Wera, similarly to many other riders, did not have a holistic preparation plan provided by coaches and got to the point of “being stuck” on a certain level. After proceeding with health checks for both and later searching for answers from 3 different equine coaches on how to pass this development blockage, it became clear that the traditional equine approaches to training horse and rider were not going to work, and the level would not be advancing.
That was the moment when she researched integrated training methods in other sports disciplines like skiing, general athletics and tennis, and started applying them as an endurance and mental training based on measuring different physiological and mental factors based on a heart rate of both the horse and the rider. Together with a ski trainer, they designed and maintained a highly personalized conditioning plan that helped to advance and stabilize the performance for 3 consecutive seasons after the blockage appeared. Such positive development was an outstanding result, it assured the improvement of previously doubtful performance as a couple, and that Landro’s well-being always came first.

Monitoring the heart rate, mental ability, and emotional state was happening daily, and the routine was adjusted biweekly according to the physical results combined with the rider’s normal ability of “feeling of the horse”. This merge became a sweet spot for redefined equine training, which proved to bring not only consistency in performance, but also comfort for the animal, emphasizing the foundation of the whole equine adventure: the true love for horses, mutual understanding and respectful treatment.
After the method was individually proven, many riders – including an ex-Olympic Games competitor and some national level trainers in Poland – decided to try out this approach too. Experiences led to many interesting conclusions. As a multidisciplinary team, we were able to:

  • Define the importance of implementing individualized focus and stress-management techniques for riders to ensure horse's stress levels remain on the motivational level, rather than increasing to unhealthy fatigue,

  • Confirm that the individual multidisciplinary approach and the mix of conditioning training with traditional technical coaching sessions, visibly reduces mistakes, risk of injuries, improving equine performance and health,

  • Got a new data-driven comparison on how the horses actually feel the rider who was being engaged in different psychological or physical exercises vs how the rider feels the horses.

It is said that knowledge is power. Following this logic, such comprehensive skillset is a baseline for any experienced rider and passionate beginner for developing a healthy and intentional equine experiences. It's applicable on every level of education or professional sport disciplines, in recreational riding or simply if one wants to enjoy the herd’s company in the backyard. It's about becoming better but with deeper understanding, higher quality of life, harmonious with abilities and status quo, no matter the goal or reason behind.

From that moment, Weronika realized that for both horses and riders to achieve a more effective, peaceful, and satisfying environment, results and training style, besides physical and technical preparation, real-life mindset changes are necessary. With proper guidance and correctly applied thoughtful solutions, such changes in thinking and riding are simple to learn and can be truly life-changing.
